Home solar

Solar panels for
New Zealand homes.

Make your roof part of your energy plan. Explore a solar system shaped around your household, your property and the way you use electricity.

The useful answer

Is solar right for a New Zealand home?

A home solar assessment compares your daytime electricity use with the generation your roof could support. Shading, roof condition, your electricity plan and future loads all influence the design. A battery is optional, and site-specific estimates should explain their assumptions.

A system that makes sense

Consider the whole picture.

Discuss your project ↗
01

Your household, understood

A recent bill and, ideally, interval usage data help show how much electricity you use during solar hours.

02

Your roof, considered

Orientation, shading, usable space, roof condition and local wind conditions inform the layout and mounting approach.

03

Your future, included

Thinking about an EV, heat pump or battery? Consider future loads and compatible equipment at the design stage.

What to consider

Good energy.
Thought through.

Start with practical questions. Your proposal should make the scope, options and assumptions clear.

Start with daytime use

Solar used directly in your home reduces electricity you would otherwise import. Timers and flexible appliances can help align use with sunshine.

Plan for the seasons

Long summer days and shorter winter days produce different results. Ask for a monthly generation estimate, rather than relying on a single annual figure.

Compare the complete proposal

Check panel and inverter models, installation scope, grid arrangements, monitoring access and written warranty conditions.

Before you decide

Ask the useful questions.

Will solar work on cloudy days?

Panels can generate in diffuse daylight, but output falls with cloud cover and is lower in winter. Shading, roof direction and local conditions all affect the energy your system produces.

Can I sell surplus electricity?

With the right grid connection, metering and retailer plan, surplus generation can be exported. Buy-back rates, export limits and fees vary. Compare the whole electricity plan, including import rates and daily charges.

What happens after I enquire?

We review your location and project needs, confirm service availability, and discuss the information needed for an assessment. Installation arrangements, timing, equipment and warranties are confirmed in a written proposal.
